OFFICE OF STUDENT ACTIVITIES sandwich boards


Guidelines

Sandwich boards provide a scheduled space for a registered undergraduate student organization and College-approved activities to advertise for a particular event.

  1. Requests for sandwich board reservations can be made by College-recognized student organizations by completing the online form at: www.college.harvard.edu/student/sandwichboard/boardreq.html. Alternately, an email can be sent to sandwich@fas.harvard.edu.
  2. Submitting a request form does not guarantee board space. Please await confirmation or rejection, which will come via e-mail within three business days. If a request is submitted sooner than this, we cannot guarantee that it will be considered in time. The Student Life and Activities Office is not open on weekends to respond to requests.
  3. Please check the Sandwich Board Reservation calendar prior to making a request to determine whether or not there are boards available on the dates you plan to make a reservation. The reservations are listed in the form [Board Number & Letter: Organization]. If both sides have been reserved, the board will be listed twice.
  4. Due to the high demand from student organizations and the limited amount of space, organizations are permitted ONE side of ONE sandwich board for a maximum of two consecutive weeks, per reservation.
  5. Sandwich boards can be reserved up to one year in advance. However, if the number of requests from one organization is deemed to be excessive, the organization will be notified that they have reached their maximum allowance of reservations for the academic year.
  6. There are five boards located at Thayer Gate (between the Yard and the Science Center) with two sides each (A&B). The boards are labeled in the upper left or right hand corner with their number and side. When a reservation confirmation email is sent, it will contain your board assignment. Please make a note of your assignment and post accordingly on the date that your reservation begins.
  7. Please note that the sixth board, formerly near Lamont Library, no longer exists.
  8. Poster size may not exceed the size of the sandwich board face.
  9. For physical problems regarding the sandwich boards (i.e. broken or missing boards), please contact Yard Operations at (617) 495-1874.
